Wemo End of Support: What Still Works and What to Do Next
If your Wemo plug or switch stopped responding in the Wemo app, or Alexa and Google Assistant can no longer control it, the device probably isn’t broken. Belkin shut down the Wemo cloud service and app on January 31, 2026. Some Wemo devices keep working through Apple Home, a few Thread models are not affected at all, and the rest have lost their smart features. This guide helps you work out which group yours is in and what to do next (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
Is this the right guide? This guide covers Belkin Wemo plugs and switches after the January 2026 shutdown. If you are choosing a new plug, see Best Matter Smart Plugs. If your Wemo is in Apple Home and shows No Response, see Apple Home Hub and No Response Fixes.

Which Wemo devices still work
Belkin lists these products as still working locally through the Apple Home app, but only if they were added to HomeKit before January 31, 2026 (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know):

| Smart Light Switch 3-Way | WLS0403 | Works in Apple Home if set up there before Jan 31, 2026 |
| Wi-Fi Smart Light Switch with Dimmer | WDS060 | Works in Apple Home if set up there before Jan 31, 2026 |

The model number is printed on the device or its box. Any Wemo product not in this list can no longer be controlled through the Wemo app or other services (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
If your Wemo is already in Apple Home
- Keep using the Apple Home app. Belkin says HomeKit-configured devices keep working locally without the Wemo cloud (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
- Don’t remove it from Apple Home or reset it. Belkin says new HomeKit setup is no longer possible, so a device you remove may not go back in (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
- Remote control and automations need a home hub. Belkin lists a home hub as required for remote access and automations in Apple Home (Belkin Support: What do I need to use my Wemo device with the Apple Home app?). See our Apple Home hub guide if accessories show No Response.
- Alexa and Google Assistant won’t control it any more, because those links relied on the Wemo cloud (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
If your Wemo isn’t in Apple Home
- It has lost its smart features. It can’t be added to the Wemo app or HomeKit now (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
- Check for a refund. If the product was still under warranty on or after January 31, 2026, Belkin says you may be eligible for a refund. You need proof of purchase, and requests go through Belkin’s Wemo end-of-support form linked from its support article (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
- Recycle it. For devices that no longer work, Belkin recommends an authorized e-waste recycling center (Belkin Support: Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know).
Choosing a replacement
To avoid the same problem again, look for plugs and switches that support Matter, which works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings rather than one brand’s app. Two types to know:
- Matter over Wi-Fi plugs join your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, like the Tapo P125M (Tapo: P125M product page).
- Matter over Thread plugs, like Eve Energy, need a Thread border router such as a recent HomePod, Apple TV, Nest Hub or Echo (Eve: which hub you need). Check what you already own in our Thread border router guide.
For more options, see best Matter smart plugs and our smart plug buying guide.

Frequently asked questions
Why did my Wemo stop working?
Belkin shut down the Wemo cloud service and app on January 31, 2026. Devices that rely on the cloud lost app, remote and voice control.
Do Wemo plugs still work with Alexa or Google Home?
No. Belkin says those integrations relied on the Wemo cloud and no longer work.
Can I still add a Wemo to Apple Home?
No. Belkin says new setup through the Wemo app or HomeKit isn’t possible after January 31, 2026. Devices added before then keep working.
Which Wemo devices are not affected?
The Thread models: Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0503), Stage Smart Scene Controller (WSC010), Smart Plug with Thread (WSP100) and Smart Video Doorbell Camera (WDC010).
Should I reset my Wemo to fix it?
Not if it is in Apple Home. A reset removes it, and Belkin says it can’t be set up in HomeKit again.
Can I get a refund for my Wemo?
Possibly, if it was under warranty on or after January 31, 2026. Belkin requires proof of purchase and takes requests through its Wemo end-of-support form.
What should I replace Wemo plugs with?
A Matter plug works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings, so you are not tied to one brand’s app.
What do I do with a Wemo that no longer works?
Belkin recommends an authorized e-waste recycling center.
