Eufy Camera and HomeBase Setup and Fixes
Eufy cameras come in two kinds: eufyCam models that pair with a HomeBase, which then connects to your router, and SoloCam and indoor models that join your Wi-Fi directly. Knowing which kind you have tells you where to look when something goes offline. This guide covers HomeBase 3 setup, what its light means, pairing cameras, and the fixes eufy’s own help center gives, in the order eufy suggests.

Quick answers
- HomeBase 3 needs Ethernet for setup. eufy says it must be wired to your router during setup, and can be switched to Wi-Fi afterward (eufyCam 3/3C FAQ: App Setup).
- 2.4 GHz only. eufy says HomeBase and eufyCam 3/3C support 2.4 GHz networks, not 5 GHz (eufyCam 3/3C FAQ: App Setup).
- Solid red on HomeBase 3 means no network; solid blue means connected (LED Indicator Light Status on eufy S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3)).
- Pair cameras close to the HomeBase. eufy asks for about 1 m (3.3 ft) during pairing (Failed to Add eufyCam 3/3C).
- If a HomeBase stays offline, eufy’s last step is to remove it in the app and set it up again (S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3) Goes Offline).
HomeBase cameras vs. Wi-Fi cameras
eufyCam models such as eufyCam 3 and 3C pair with a HomeBase. eufy says a camera can only be added to one HomeBase, and the HomeBase-to-camera range is about 30 feet, depending on walls and obstacles. The HomeBase itself can sit up to about 50 feet from the router in theory (eufyCam 3/3C FAQ: App Setup).
SoloCam models connect straight to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without a HomeBase (What should I do if my eufy S220 SoloCam is offline?). If a SoloCam is offline, the HomeBase steps below do not apply; skip to the SoloCam section.
How to set up a eufy HomeBase 3
eufy’s steps in the Anker eufy app (Setting Up eufy S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3)):
- Install or update the Anker eufy app and sign in.
- On the Device page, tap +, then Add Device, then HomeBase 3. Choose or create a Home.
- Connect the HomeBase 3 to a LAN port on your router with an Ethernet cable.
- Power it on with the original 12V/2A adapter.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi router.
- Wait about a minute for the light to turn from red to blue.
- Tap Next and scan the QR code on the bottom of the HomeBase, or type the serial number.
- When the HomeBase makes a sound, press and hold SYNC/ALARM OFF on the bottom for two seconds until you hear a short beep.
- Name the HomeBase to finish.
After setup, you can move it to Wi-Fi under Device, HomeBase, HomeBase Settings, Connection (eufyCam 3/3C FAQ: App Setup).
What the HomeBase 3 light means
From eufy’s LED article for HomeBase 3 (S380) (LED Indicator Light Status on eufy S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3)):
| Light | What eufy says it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Solid red | Disconnected from the network | Check the Ethernet cable, router and DHCP (below) |
| Flashing red | Booting up or connecting to the network | Wait about a minute |
| Solid blue | Connected to the network | Troubleshoot the camera instead |
| Flashing blue | Connected but not set up yet | Add it in the Anker eufy app |
| Flashing red and blue | Updating firmware | Leave it powered and wait |
For older eufyCam 2-series systems, eufy says the HomeBase light should be blue or white when it has internet access (eufyCam 2/2C/2 Pro/2C Pro Failed to Pair With HomeBase).
Fix a HomeBase 3 that will not set up
eufy’s checklist when HomeBase 3 fails to add, or the light will not turn from red to blue (Failed to Add eufy S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3), Red LED Indicator Light on S380 HomeBase During Setup):
- Power. Use the included 12V/2A adapter and a working outlet. The light should come on red.
- Ethernet. Plug into a LAN port on the router. The Ethernet port light on the back should come on (eufy says green). If not, try another cable or router port.
- Give it time. Booting takes about a minute; do not interrupt it.
- Router settings. Make sure the router has internet access and DHCP turned on. eufy also suggests temporarily turning off router firewall settings, or restarting or resetting the router.
- Same network. Your phone must be on Wi-Fi from the same router.
- Right model. Pick HomeBase 3 in the app; the model is printed on the bottom.
- The beep. Hold SYNC/ALARM OFF for two seconds until you hear a short beep.
eufy explains that live video uses peer-to-peer connections that can trip strict router firewalls. Its article lists the server addresses to allow if you manage your own firewall.
Fix a HomeBase that shows offline
eufy’s steps for a HomeBase 3 marked “Offline” in the app, in order (S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3) Goes Offline):
- Check power. The light should be on. If not, try a different 12V/2A adapter and outlet.
- Check the Ethernet cable. Look for a loose connection; the Ethernet port light should be on. If not, try another cable.
- Restart the router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Reboot the HomeBase. Unplug power and Ethernet, wait about 30 seconds, then reconnect both.
- Remove and set up again. Go to HomeBase, Settings, Remove Device, then add it as a new device.
If every eufyCam shows offline at once, start here: the cameras reach the internet through the HomeBase.
Pair a eufyCam with HomeBase 3
eufy’s checklist for adding eufyCam 3 or 3C (Failed to Add eufyCam 3/3C):
- Charge the camera. Its light should show blue. eufy says a full charge takes about four to six hours.
- Set up the HomeBase 3 first, and connect your phone to the same router.
- Remove the plastic film from the lens.
- Pick the right model in the app.
- Hold SYNC on the camera for two seconds until you hear a beep and the light flashes blue.
- Stay close. Keep the camera within 1 m (3.3 ft) of the HomeBase, in a quiet room, and make sure the HomeBase light is blue.
If the camera will not beep, eufy says to charge it for 30 minutes, then press SYNC five times within three seconds until you hear two beeps to restart it, and try again. If a camera added earlier is offline and will not reconnect, eufy suggests restarting the HomeBase 3 (Failed to Add eufyCam 3/3C).
For eufyCam 2-series cameras, eufy also suggests updating the HomeBase firmware from the app before adding new cameras, and charging with a 5V 2A charger rather than a 5V 1A phone charger (eufyCam 2/2C/2 Pro/2C Pro Failed to Pair With HomeBase).
Fix a SoloCam that is offline
eufy lists four common causes for a SoloCam going offline: weak Wi-Fi, a fully drained battery, a changed router name or password, and a router that has lost internet. A solid red camera light points to the router being offline (eufy SoloCam Offline).
eufy’s steps for SoloCam S220 (What should I do if my eufy S220 SoloCam is offline?):
- Charge the camera fully.
- Check the router and Wi-Fi are working, and move the camera closer to the router to rule out weak signal.
- Reboot the camera by holding SYNC for two seconds.
- Restart your phone and open the app again.
- If it is still offline, remove the SoloCam in the app and set it up again: Devices, Add Device, pick the model, choose your 2.4 GHz network and enter the password, hold SYNC for two seconds until it beeps, tap Heard a Beep, then let the camera scan the QR code on your phone.
New router or Wi-Fi password
A changed network name or password is one of eufy’s listed causes of SoloCam going offline (eufy SoloCam Offline), and the fix is to set the camera up again on the new network (What should I do if my eufy S220 SoloCam is offline?). For a HomeBase that is wired to the router, a new router mainly means plugging the Ethernet cable into the new one. If the HomeBase uses Wi-Fi and drops offline after a change, follow the offline steps above, ending with removing and setting it up again (S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3) Goes Offline).
Whatever the router, keep a 2.4 GHz network available. If your router combines bands under one name, see our eero, TP-Link Deco and Google Nest Wifi guides.
